Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada siswa kelas XI SMA Katolik Rosa de Lima Tondano. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (classroom action research). Sebelum melakukan penelitian, peneliti melakukan tes awal untuk mendapatkan nilai rata-rata dari seluruh peserta didik yang ada di kelas XI. Dari hasil tes awal sebelum ada perlakuan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning diperoleh hasil peserta didik masih rendah. Dari hasil tes awal peneliti telah mendapatkan acuan untuk melakukan penelitian dengan Siklus I. Hasil dari Siklus I telah menunjukan peningkatan dan mendapatkan nilai 70.33% namun hasil tersebut belum memenuhi standar nilai yang ada. Dilanjutkan dengan Siklus II dan mendapatkan hasil yang telah mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal dengan nilai 84.33%. Hasil yang telah didapatkan sangat memuaskan sehingga peneliti mengakhiri penelitian tersebut dengan harapan guru mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dapat mempertahankan metode yang digunakan peneliti, menulis teks eksplanasi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Peneliti berharap guru dan peserta didik dapat bekerjasama untuk mempertahankan atau lebih meningkatkan lagi proses Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM).
